ELIGIBILITY:
Programs produced by an individual or group that fall into the categories listed on 2008 WAVE Award Call for Entries. The WAVE Awards competition is open to media professionals in the state of Wisconsin, and in the Rockford, Illinois area. There is a separate competition for students. All entries must have been produced between June 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. A separate entry form, fee, and program copy or web site must be submitted for each entry. Each entry must be provided on CD-ROM, DVD, and/or URL’s with printouts for website pages. If a video program is longer than 10 minutes, please indicate which segment of the DVD you wish to have judged. There are no limits to the number of entries in any category.

JUDGING:
Your entries will be reviewed by a panel of media professionals from outside of Wisconsin. The national MCA-I evaluation forms will be used to calculate individual entry scores. Please be clear and concise when stating your objective and intended use.  Each entry is judged on its own merit and not against other entries in the same category.  Each category may produce more than one award recipient. The evaluation forms will be returned to entrants and can provide valuable feedback. The decision of the panel is final.  This year we will have a new judging format with three tiers: WAVE, Silver and Bronze.

MEDIA:
Any of the categories can be produced in the following media:

  1. VIDEO: Video submissions can be produced, edited or distributed on any format. But for entry to the WAVE Awards you must submit a DVD for our judging panel to review. In addition to the DVD for judging, the entrant may also submit BetaSP, Mini-DV, DVC ProHD, HDV, DVCam or DVD copies of the submission for show reel production. Do not send edited masters.
  2. CD-ROM: Enclose a CD-ROM of the entry. Label the CD-ROM to indicate whether it is PC or Mac format. Judges will make every reasonable effort to play disks. However, if a disk cannot be played, the entry will be disqualified and the entry fee will be refunded.
  3. DVD: Enclose DVD-R or DVD-Video. Judges will make every reasonable effort to play DVD’s. However, if a DVD cannot be played, the entry will be disqualified and the entry fee will be refunded.
  4. WEB SITE: We need your URL, plus a printout of the home page and up to 3 other representative pages.
  5. AUDIO: We need your audio submissions as mp3 or WAV. files on a CD.

AWARDS:
Winners will be recognized and presented with their awards at a dinner reception and media showcase on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2008, at The Pyle Center. If you cannot attend, your awards will be sent to you.

NEW THIS YEAR:
If you are a Madison MCA-I Member "WAVE" Winner, your winning entry (or entries) will automatically be submitted to the 2009 Golden Reel Awards if you choose a national category as indicated on the 2008 WAVE AWARDS Category list (see pdf available August 4th).

CHOOSING A CATEGORY:
Please evaluate the categories below (pdf) and then enter your program(s) by clicking on the "Submit" button below.  Please pay close attention to which categories align with National (MCA-I Madison WAVE winners will get their entries submitted to the 2009 Golden Reel Awards) versus Local. Judges will determine if subject matter complies with the category description and may disqualify those programs entered incorrectly. Entry fees will be forfeited for any entries disqualified for these reasons.
